Brakes Warning Light

Im guessing but does this indicate that I am low on brake fluid? This light has never worked (handbrake switch not working maybe). The light is red and is on constantly. I have stopped driving until its sorted but I thought this would be a good place to start the investigation. 8-)

Any advice on why this light is on, and is it level which makes the light come on?
Thanks

it does sound that way, pull the dash pod lid off and have a looksee at the res.......

or is it the wires to the handbrake switch or the switch, just coz they never worked dont mean it isnt the cause..........

Other thing it might be is the wire to the handbrake switch is shorted, could be cut through, pull back the carpet and have a look. Mine was broken and frayed when I investigated it.

Losing brake/clutch fluid

OK Guys, I now realise that I am losing fluid and the red light illum on dash is the warning low level. I have topped up reservoir twice now and booked into local garage for full check. Looking at the Haynes manual I think I could do the job but with it being brakes Id rather put in garage for work. Will this be a basic job for them, I mean Id like to know likely causes to fluid loss problem with costs etc? What parts are they likely to replace? (I have no reason to doubt their advice, I would just like to know about previous brake stories from you guys too)

Advice appreciated
