Replacement Aircooled exhaust.

Hi all. Long time since i posted here. Hope all is well!

I need a new exhaust for my 2ltr Aircooled. Fancy something a tad sexier than the standard set up. Any recommedations? I'm considering the twin pipe Empi from just kampers but am aware it needs stripping and painting with heat resistent paint to make it last longer than 5 minutes! Potentially tempted to go stainless but dont have heaps of cash to spend.

Would he great to hear from people with after market set ups.

Cheers,
Sam

I ordered that Empi one and the quality on it was shocking! The pipes didn't fit under the rear valance I would have had to pull and bend it outwards to squeeze it under, the mating flanges weren't welded on straight so didn't line up properly. Needless to say I took it back and went back to my motorbike exhaust set up until I have the cash to splash out on stainless steel

Thanks Tony.

Definitely thought the Empi one would be too good to be true on many levels! I'll have a look around. Do you have your eye on any stainless set ups?

4th post down here = https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=149217" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

If it's a Bluebird twin tip type, I have one and recommend it highly :)

PS, If it's what I think it is, they fit onto the standard "J" tubes that come from the heads. If you need those, they are available from the usual places and not too expensive.

The good thing is that a replacement silencer only costs £25 a time instead of £100+

Yeh I thought the same but bought it anyway just incase. I have the bike can setup that covkid has posted the link to a few posts above, that works fine its a bit loud but I doesn't bother me really. I think when I've got the cash I will look at getting a stainless one made up from somewhere like prospeed and get the j tubes done at the same time to replace the heat exchangers as I'm sure the O/S is starting to blow inside a tiny bit. Will definitely have to invest in a propex for the winter then though!!

Looks like the same as the ones VW Heritage are selling as per my link above. They also look identical to the ones Bluebird Custom used to sell. I am guessing that it might also be the same item as Mick at N.W. VW is selling for £250, again, as linked to above.

I got mine from VW Heritage about 2 years ago. £356 from there now (£20 dearer than when I bought mine)

lovely looking piece of kit, unfortunately I just had to shell out for 4 new tyres and all the ARB/tie rod bushes for the mot, it only failed on tyres and windscreen washers but have been meaning to change the bushes for about 6 months and took the opportunity while it was inside on a ramp! when he spare cash is there I would be looking for something along these lines, looks lovely

Good price that, though the link shows the single tail pipe version.
Re looking good, it may be noted that although it is stainless, it soon gets stained!! At least it doesn't rust though :)
