Smell of burning from heater vents

Hello, my 1983 1.6 diesels heater fan stopped working yesterday. About 10 minutes later, I started to smell burning coming from the vents I think at the front of the bus. Does this mean that the actual fan motor has burnt out and I need to lift the Dash and replace or could it be more serious. Please help as this is my first bus, and although I'm quite handy with motorbikes and have a decent tool set I don't want to risk a fire or something, thanks people

Welcome. We had the same symptoms when ours gave up the ghost a few years back, plenty of info/pics about on how to replace it.

I'd stop using it until you fix it. I ended up with a cab billowing smoke out of the windows
