on investigation it now seems like .. (And please don't ask how but it's happened ) I've put 24v into my 12 fridge !!! What could this have killed ??? Could I of fried the igniter ???

Yes it could have killed bits that are designed for 12 Volts. The obvious question though is, have you tested it's operation since the mistake ?

Well I reckon it's beyond my skills and patience to try to sort it out ... And it is after all 30 years old, very small and a tawt to light anyway... So I've bined it and made a MUCH needed cupboard
So if anybody needs a bit please say before the tip gets it !!!
