Been using this forum as a great resource for information of the last few weeks so figured i'd join and get involved
Im Alex and recently purchased a T25 that has been off the road for close to five years

Got it transported back and the work began...

replaced the clutch slave, flexi hose as well as the full length of clutch pipe that links the master and slave cylinders (what a pain!)
Changed the oil, changed the filters and did a bit of rewiring of the glowplugs as well...they were no longer connected.

Turned it over a few times and it fired straight up

Looks lovely doesn't it?

Well if only i knew what lurked beneath...took it for a pre MOT at a friends garage and they have poked holes in all sorts of places beneath and warned me going on any further and have even advised me to sell it!...to me this isnt an option as me and my gf and done lots of work on it, spent too much time and already got too attached to it.

So basically im after advise, garage recommendations, bodyshops or mobile welders ANYONE that could come and take a took at our baby for us and give us a quote for the work to be done and talk through the different options.


As you can see the Van certainly isnt a rot box but just needs some attention underneath...im not stranger to rot as my background is in classic minis so it doesn't scare me too much but need someone else to take the work on.

Iv got a general list from the MOT station which is mainly, rear arch area, front jacking points and seatbelt mounting as well as the odd few bits here and there.

I believe he can be saved, we just need an expert to cast their eyes over him and get stuck in

Sorry can't recommend anyone but I'd have though no shortage of welding capability in that (previously) industrial part of the world. Nice looking van though, should be a great camper once sorted.

Yeah you'd have thought Got someone from 'tipton transporters' to come and have a look tomorrow morning so was just after a few more specialists that are used to being under t25's before I go round the local bodyshops I know of.

Will be fantastic once its sorted.

Fixed a few other niggles such as the horn and wash wipers, so really its just the rust left to sort and a brake overhaul

Nice looking van & well worth getting the work done - unfortunately, i have no recommendations in your area as i'm down in Kent, but keep us informed of the van's progress (the bodywork is the next thing that needs to be done on mine).

Nice looking van, but yes, you can see from the rusty seams -they all have a tendancy to do it too that somebody has been there before looks like a Holdsworth interior so a good conversion ['cos i've got one of those too ]

But all the parts are availalbe from Schofields and any competent welder could do the work for you so don't let that put you off having it done.

Its far from a scrapper! Unless I've missed something

Got two people coming to look the van over tomorrow now so il keep you all updated

I start a new job next week anyway so money wont be so tight in a few months

Where about in the West Mids are you? I've had some good work done by a mobile welder in South Birmingham. Calls himself Birmingham Welder if you Google him.

Can you post some pics of the rotten areas ? People on here will be able to offer better advice if they could see how bad the problem was

Thought that last one was on odd place, not sute how this would be repaired?

And there are also a two small holes in the O/S sill


Photos make it look worse than it is to me but i suppose the camera never lies.

oh its as bad as it looks and i can assure you its worse in some areas sorry, no cheap quick fix really as the usual pickup points are shot,
as youve been looking round a bit have you seen exactly what its like in there ?
