Dont really need a guide, just undo the bolt at the top and the one at the bottom

Sorry i mis read that to be only shocks, springs need to be compressed with spring compressors i think but haynes says you can just jack and support van then jack trailing arm, remove shock, lower trailing arm and pul spring out, it says you may need to take the drive shaft off to lower the arm enough but id think compressing the spring is easier

oh okay... compressing does sound easier. Anyone in Guernsey got a spring compressor!
Is removing the drive shaft tricky (i really should just go get my haynes, but its at the parent in laws house)
Maybe I will just have to go to my sister in laws 30th after all... and to think I was trying to spare my liver!

The rear springs do not need to be compressed to change the shocks.

You do not need to compress the springs to change the rear shocks or springs

Just going by haynes that says some models the trailing arm wont go down far enough, they could be wrong its not uncommon

I don't trust haynes.I have changed the rear springs and shocks on these vans a few times, and have never used compressors.
