what colour wire ?
sorry know its in the forum somewhere , but which colour wire do i need from battery light in dash to connect to terminal 86 on a relay for split charge system ?

Safer that way yes, if not you could have a leak or short to the body and get an electric shock
Last year in France i was leaning on the van and kept getting a sharp scratch from the sliding door, happened several times then i looked and could see no sharp bits, took me while to realise it was electrical, i had about 120vac leak to the van body through a wet mains connector, not much current but enough to hurt
still not got around to earthing it though

Whats that got to do with a 12v split charge system?
