Replacing single headlights with twin

Hello!

I'm looking to buy my first campervan and I was wanting twin square headlights.
If I buy a T25 with single round ones, could I replace them with twin headlights if I source them?
Will they work correctly (I'm not sure if the twin headlights are supposed to act/light up together as main beams?)
Sorry if it sounds like a dumb question; I'm not a techy...

Hi, Welcome to the forum!

No experience of it myself (I prefer round headlights personally :) ), but found this on the wiki:-

Round headlights are two a penny. Twin square sets come up occassionally but are usually LHD, RHD are very rare and both LHD and RHD are expensive or very expensive depending on condition. They are also a target for thieves.

Also 90% of sets sold won't come with the little inner mounting brackets you'll need.

Either that or fit Maestro ones - if you can find some.

Which you can make in two minutes flat!

Don't worry, LHD ones are fine with beam benders for the not!

About 200 to 250 at big shows, more on eBay!

I was just giving advice to someone who is concerned about switching headlights, I don't know if he's in to making brackets.
Although from memory, they are nicely pressed items, but yes, you could make 'something' in two minutes with a pair of tin-snips.

I was on the verge of buying my first T3 yesterday; it had round lights. Think I'll keep a look out for the right van, but with squares...
I did spot these on ebay though (although not going for that option now): http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Volkswagen ... 2c867c1ce6

I'm surprised no-one is doing an aftermarket unit for square headlights if they are so difficult/ expensive to get hold of!

(still prefer single, round lights though  )

Single round lights with spots on the bumper does it for me every time, especially on a camper. I'd pay more for that look, but luckily it's easier to find.

Having said that, I'm one of those who like originality and would sooner learn to love the looks a van was born with than start modifying it. And anyway, new grilles will probably be the last on your list of stuff to spend money on when you've just bought a 30 year old t25 :)

Come on, the round lights may be common, but they are cool and the last of a classic breed...
