B&Q Cooker hood packed in. Capacitor?

Does anyone know anything about cooker hoods, or rather the motors in them? Ours was working fine and was switched off after a bit of food cremation. Next time we switched it on nothing happened. Is there a chance it's the capacitor? Is there a way to test the motor without the capacitor, or vice versa. It's a cheap B&Q one so I can't find a make on it. The difficult bit is that it is built in so I'm rather hoping for a repair, rather than replacement. The cost isn't a problem, or an issue. I just don't want to start stripping part of the kitchen out. I am aware of the dangers with electrickery! Thanks in advance folks. :ok
btw, INFO ON capacitor; PinGo CBB61 2'u'f +- 5% 450vac DB-C 50/60 hz SHP0 40/85/21. EN60252-1 09/12R

Thanks Cov. No, not that one. It's got 2 leads coming from it which are coloured blue and brown so I assume polarity conscious. I've trawled the web, tramped all over town and harassed various electrical appliance suppliers. I finally gave up when one of them told me "Aha, here it is!! Exactly the same...it's obsolete" :( :x
Never mind. Kitchen fitter here we come!!

If you are getting same volts both side of the capacitor with respect to earth then the capacitor is probably ok.

Ebay to the rescue :ok Or rather a gentleman in Helmsley who had a complete cooker hood that was so near to the original that it fitted with hardly any modifications or bodging :ok £35 and a half hours fiddling around with the wiring - just had to re route it slightly) and my wife loves me again. Thanks for the above folks.

Sorry Jeff, corrected that now. I got the complete hood, not just the capacitor.
