Interior revamp

Eventually got around to buying myself a T25, my first job is to sort out my tired looking cupboards. Has anyone any ideas or advice on how I can spruce them up please? Is fablon vinyl as a retrim any good?

Hi Stevs, and firstly welcome to Club 80-90 where you can find all you need to know (and lots that you don't !)

It's a good idea to put where your are in your profile, and also to set up a "signature" via your control panel that tells us what year van you have, what conversion it is and what engine it has. This makes answering certain questions a lot easier for us

What type of T25 did you get then ?

I will be "watching" this thread as one of our 2 vans needs the cupboards tidied up. I am currently leaning towards using "Melamine paint" as per LINK HERE after a light sanding of course, to "key" the surface. Our cupboards have a slight wood grain texture to them and I think this will lend itself well to painting (i.e. hiding brush strokes )

now the "admin stuff" is out the way...photos come next! I spruced up the cupboards in my old Kamper with fablon and it looked ok, I could have done a better job I suppose but enthusiasm for my first van took over rather than putting in the time and effort.

I've just remembered (and found) the "spare" box of those hard wearing but thin vinyl wood effect self adhesive tiles many folk cover their floors with. I did our Hi-Top with them and they are easy to cut with a Stanley knife or even a decent pair of scissors. I wonder if they could be used to good effect ?

I have been looking at veneers and laminates, seems relatively easy to apply them and the finish should be good. Just involves removing or sanding the old ones then using contact adhesive.

Still find myself edging towards saving up and buying a new interior.

I'm just starting to strip my interior to remake everything. I am hopefully going to use a wood effect laminate bonded to a 12-15mm plywood. I am going to make a studwork frame first and then probably use a thin sheet material to form the internals between the studwork. Thats the theory anyway and I am past the point of no return now

"Quagmire" on here (Ben) is intending to start doing a range of cost effective units for T25's in the very near future. I have seen his work and it looks good (though I can't afford it ) Link HERE
