ive just bought a new twin outlet exhuast for my t25. It says the paint it comes in is "transit paint" it looks great but reviews say the transit paint comes off in no time.

Do I need to strip of all the old paint of just scuff the old paint and coat in Heat treatment ? andy advice on good quality paint ?

It will strip its self when you put it on!

Yeah just seem a cop out calling it transit paint

I guess you would not be happy getting it rusty so they have to paint it

I do paint mine from time to time but it never lasts long

I took mine off last week and cleaned up then resprayed with heat resistant paint. This is the first time I've done it so only time will tell how long it lasts.

One thing to note is that exhausts often rust from inside out due to condensation resting in the pipes, so even if paint did stay, it wouldn't necessarily help in the long run...

If it has EMPI written on it SEND IT BACK as they are rubbish, rob power and will fall apart before the yrs out, and I mean 2013!
If not then BBQ paint Is good on exhausts.

Exhausts never die due to "structural rot" from the outside in. Sure, they can look manky - but that's purely cosmetic. They rot from the inside out. You've got very hot, corrosive, acidic, water-laden gases passing through, and heavy condensation when you leave it parked in the cold. It's an incredibly hostile environment inside an exhaust. Outside, at least any moisture that sits on them gets burnt off with the engine running.

If you want pretty - or if you want long-lasting - stainless is the only way to go.

Is there anyway to improve it apart from changing it to an original

Is this for Aircooled, watercooled or both?

both.
I believe one was on a van as it was on a dyno. by coinsidence.
not massive power loss..but it certainly did not help.
