Hi everyone,

My gear box has been seeping from the seals where the cv joints attaches to the gear box and need replacing. Im not taking about grease from the joint coming out but gearbox oil. I am thinking about biting the bullet and replacing the cv joints as one side has rotational play and is starting to knock quite loudly, so it would seem sensible to sort this leaking issue at the same time. So basically my question is... What is the name of this seal and where do i get it?

oh, also has anyone used JK CVs? they claim to be OEM quality... the bundle price for all four seems appealing. That reminds me, Its a 1y 1.9diesel 1986. with a 1.9 4speed petrol box, i forget which code.

Thanks in advance for any responses :)

I did a WIKI on this a few years ago:

Should explain all you need to know.

As for CV joints, the better quality (LOBRO) ones that GSF do are fine. Cut corners and boy will you pay for it. Its one of those jobs where there is no saving to be had by buying cheaper CV joints. Can't vouch for the JK ones. If they're not LOBRO or you don't have a firm recommendation from a very reliable source that they really can be trusted, don't buy them. There are far too many chocolate CV joints around now unfortunately.

With a GSF discount card, you'll probably find the price is similar. If there is a massive difference in price, be very suspicious.

I replaced mine this year from these people ... http://www.germancampercompany.com/body ... a681fcd4c7

It's an expensive job BUT the pre-appreciated ones I was offered were basically scrap. :| Don't forget to ask for 80-90 members 10% discount :ok
