Hi
I looked at a van today 1.6 diesel from Germany (it would mean registering it)all was good with the van and fits the bill !
I did however notice that both foot wells were damp or at least the thin sound proofing material was I know this stuff holds water there wasn't not any rust I asked the owner and he said its always been like that specially when it rains!
My question is could it be the heater matrix ( is it there???) that could be leaking or just plane old rain water that can't dry out ? Slight rusting around wind screen ? !
It blew hot air and it didn't over heat ???
So does this make sense ??rain water???
Many thanks in advance

Yes typical to rust around the windscreen and then leak
If it was coolant you should see the colour in it

Keep the van in doors if it looks like rain.

Same colour as the coolant in the engine bay top up tank
Usually pink but some use blue
Need to get more than one drip to see the colour

May need a new front panel if leak is coming from around screen.
And it proably is.
£1000 job.

Dependant on just how damaged it is it can be repaired (with necessary skills)

Try and buy a good quality replacement or it will give you grief when refitting the glass. And if you do have rust holes under the rubber - very probable too, then these will fix it, though would need to be welded-in, etc:

I am sure it could, and if you have those skills i probably have some work for you
Never found it to work though, apart from "looking prettier ".
Sadly.

Slight exaggeration there. New windscreen seal and follow my WIKI (link above) - mornings work, £50 at most. If you can even weld a little, or have a friend who can, it can be done fairly easily. If front panel is shot (and that would be evident on the outside), its under £150. Its not exactly the worst area to repair. Scofields also do a repair section for it.

Good news then
Where can one get this "front panel work for £150" done in the Midlands ?
Come on, spill the beans.
Ta
Because every body shop guy I have spoken to has said "new panel", + fitting+ spray = upwards of £850.
Commonly rounded off to £1000.
Would love to be proved wrong and have a pael needing doing right now !
