Pannel Van Pannell replacement

Afternoon all,

In the middle of getting my van back up and running we need to replace the whole Pannel behind the driver(opposite to the sliding door)

The story goes the Chap before me had cut the windows out of the van side pannels and then sadly passed away so the wet got in around the window holes for a few years resulting in massive corrosion, not to mention rust coming up from below.

Seems you cant just buy the whole replaceent part? anyone know any different? otherwise what should i do, get a salvaged pannel?

In a perfect world id just like to buy the whole pannll with the window in it, something tells me im not going to have it so easy....

Any help much appreciated!!

C

Do you think its a case of cutting top half out then replacing with new sheet then cutting out window again?

Surely they make the whole pannel? in my mind its probably cheaper to replace the whole thing in the long run rather then sut out, cut in then cut out again!

Yours a pannel van convert?

Yeah mines a panel van converted into a camper high top.
Looks like the only way to sort is cut out the bad, then add a big extra thats longer then cut back to window aperture.

Seems to be a really common problem once the seals have gone, the edge just rots under the rubber.
Cheers Mike

its not so much the seals perishing, its the fact that many of the conversions are done and no treatment of the bare metal cut hole is done so they start rusting,
i would crucify anyone who sourced a new panal and then cut a hole in it

Thats true, bare mild steel edge will corrode very quickly.
What thickness steel do you use? i'm going to get some bits folded up soon for my van. That is after i have bought a MIG welder. :)

I was going to "pop in" with that one, but on checking (one should always check before sticking ones neck out) it seems that both are acceptable
