Buzzer of doom, it no buzz!?

Afternoon people,
a question Ive been meaning to ask for ages. I read on here about 'the buzzer of doom'.
I gather it sounds when oil pressure is low? Is it just a back up for the red oil pressure light?
Do I have one? How do I check/test it works?
If you can explain, please do

True, but I find that comment dead funny

I have trawled the WIKI.....but couldnt find the idiots guide to actually testing the buzzer. So now I will have to clicky on your links to it, with eager anticipation, and see if it brings up the WIKI stuff Ive just read!
Bear with me please caller......

Mr Ghost (!)
you were of course correct. It was your second link I hadn't found/read. Thanks.
I'll go make a pot of tea now
Everybody else - when i doubt, read the WIKI first. Read it before posting. Oh, and read it properly.....all of it!

Aye, I will stop being flippant and say, disconnect the brown wire that runs from the sender by the water pump (the higher pressure one). You can disconnect it at the "top end" connector, not the one on the sender (which is a sod to get to

) just leave it dangle (somewhere safe) and fire up the motor. If you give it a rev to over 2,000 rpm, the buzzer should then sound.
BTW, some folks with buzzer issues (or oil pressure issues

) earth that brown wire to prevent the buzzer going off

Ah
If that happens to you Mr / Mrs fairwynds, a multimeter set to a low ohms setting will show this "modification" up.

Just to add to the fun'n'games, our high-rev-sensor-to-dash wire plays correctly, but somebody's done some kind of buzzerectomy on the dash end itself. I can't say it bothers me, but it's another thing to check.

do you mean the green wire? this is coil negative and also feeds the tacho. Without this the Buzzer circuit does not know the engine speed so will not buzzz
