Cylinder head removal

Hi guys,

Right, we have just "invested" in a 1983 t25 wedge 1.6 straight diesel. Unfortunately the head gasket has gone.....don't ask! My other half has gone to work and mentioned it would be a good idea to remove the cylinder head so we can get it pressure tested. Problem is, although I service my T4 and change brake pads etc i have never removed a cylinder head myself. Can any one help me with my starting point?

Thanks in advance

Hi,look for a post in "any other matters" by "Oldie but goodie" and look through the manual .
Your main problems will be removing the camshaft gear wheel and maybe the exhaust manifold studs.
Just come back if you get stuck.
Good luck.
Ps put your location up.

Thanks, I have already found issues with the manifold head bolts. Haha, a few choice words were invented. I will keep looking. Don't seem to be able to get hold of a manual for this engine. Always the td one I seem to find or the petrol.
