Fitting a new windscreen - Genuine VW or Pattern?

Getting a fair bit of wind noise in the cab which I reckon it due to the windscreen seal, also getting a small amount of water under the mat on the passenger side. Also my screen has a small stone chip, so I'm thinking it's time to replace both.
Need advice on where to get one fitted, East London or similar? Do Autoglass fit them and if so do they have the genuine VW article?
Should I go for the genuine article only?
Appreciate any help with this topic.
Thanks

Can't comment on suppliers for glass or seal, but I can on this one... Avoid the big name windscreen fitters!
Have a rummage through the Yellow Pages, and find a small local outfit. They will be cheaper, they will be more flexible, and they DEFINITELY will be more competent! Even if it's an insurance job (that chip spread in the cold weather, right?), you don't have to use the big outfits. You might need to pay then reclaim, but it'll all work out the same cost to you - just your excess.

Looking at other threads on windows and seals, seems only genuine is worth thinking about. Might order the screen and seal from VW hertitage and then get a local firm to fit it.

I had a very slight windscreen leak after my screen was replaced. I applied a small amount of clear external sealant around where the leak had occurred. Problem solved.
If you need a windscreen contact Allied Windscreens who provide a good mobile service. It you need a new seal as well let them know. The telephone number I have is 020 8959 1886, but they have other numbers too.

I dont see the point in a genuine screen-it just adds in the complication of actually going to Heritage or other specialist site to pick up. If screen broke on a journey you wouldnt have the 'luxury' of choice anyway.
Seals are a different matter and plenty on here about the virtues of originality (watertightness) over cost which seems to be a no brainer if you wish to avoid future problems.
I have recently replaced my screen/seal with a green tint and top sun strip which looks great and was £132 fitted inc VAT which i thought v competitive.(seal extra)-Although it hasn't rained to any degree if i do get any leaks i will be contacting the local firm to reseal with addition of proprietry sealers-so its a local over Big Co for me.

Hi,
I had a new screen installed by a big company took 2 guys an hour and a half then the screen cracked at the end of it
When measured against the old cracked one found out it was half an inch bigger all round they supplied a pilkington screen a day later which went in a treat, apparently they make their own screens .
I would definitaly go local if doing it again
