I have a 83 CS panel van, can anyone answer a few questions for me.

1 Should it have the later pushfit cable on it?

2 My friend on here sold me some later clocks including binnacle housing, will that off a G reg will the multiplug fit onto a 83 loom?

In other words will a set of G reg clocks fit a A reg van?
Thanks

As far as I am aware there is a good degree of buggeration needed to get a late set of clocks to work with an early van

Late wiring

I did this swap , I got a late plug with a length of wire on and grafted the two together.

Thanks Pete and steve. My next question is being A reg I guess thats early type on the pictures. As the previous owner has obviously changed the clocks according to Mot when it passed 3 weeks ago. As the milage wasnt right. I hadnt changed the clocks so he must of. So I think I need to just buy a new complete binacle after my mechanic kindly broke the old ones while pulling the cover off to get to brake res to topup with fluid. So Should my 83 diesel now have the old type steve as I`m not sure what year VW changed them. I wish I knew how to put pictures on here. Sorry everyone.

Was a CS now AAZ.

Did VW make a speedo with trp meter on early type then anyone? Yes with push fit cable, but the early positioned multiplug in Steves pic above.

yes - my early 83 van has trip meter on the speedo, pressfit speedo cable and the early vertical multiplug.

Some dates of changes here http://www.brick-yard.co.uk/VehicleSpec ... hanges.htm Not sure how accurate it is as it suggests 83 vans like mine with D in the VIN number should have blade fuses but mine is the 12 fuse ceramic version.
