Can anyone help??

Just bought a 85 tin top 1.6td . The leisure battery
behind the passenger seat is what appears a motorbike battery
It is approx 1/4 size of vehicle main battery . There are 2 plugs
one to a 240v plug in charger and one to the Zig sp4 unit
I am after having a split charge relay system with a new
LB but I am a newbie and have absolutely no
Idea of where to start . There is a green wire in the space with
a circular connector taped up in said space ?????

P.s when examining the engine there was a wire ( red and black)
That had come unattached from the spade connector at bottom of alternator
What is this as van ran fine until I noticed it and still does ??
