Why don't more syncros get a body lift?

Now, steady on chaps, don't get all excited...but why not?
Instead of over-stretching the front suspension and compromising the steering geometry with excessive lift (resulting in massive tyre scrub and all the rest) in the quest for more ground clearance and improved app/dep angles, what's wrong with packing the front subframe by, say, 50mm and then dropping the back end by a similar amount?
On the face of it, larger 16" tyres could be fitted with reduced arch clipping problems (and ground clearance would be offset by a corresponding amount) app/dep angles would increase and all within the safe working angles of available CV joints. The front deform. panel could stay put
OK so this may not sound very attractive to derv drivers who already have less ground clearance at the back

and it would probably be easier to do with a flat 4 carried by the standard engine bar, but for a lightweight truck or wagon that isn't dragging it's ass it could be interesting to see what results...

if the front subframe is dropped the prop will be running at a less than straight line....the front diff could be spaced up again but then the driveshaft angle problem returns?

It's a good idea in theory but surely you are still left with ground clearance issues, more body roll due to COG being raised, CV joint wear.......
What would you gain? Better approach angles and being able to fit larger tyres.
If it was proved to be usefull I think I'd have it done if running problems were eliminated.

Loads of people world wide with Syncros talk to each other about trips that go further away than 300 miles from where they live. Funny how the galvanize this, upgrade your gear knob, TDI engines are rubbish looks kind of amateur now hey

Em .... no! The engine and box are dropped as well. A body lift has NO effect on the CV joint angles at all as the entire engine, transmission, subframes, the lot are dropped. You can, in addition, put spring spacers in as well but you will need to seriously revamp your suspension. That grey DoKa has a 20mm body lift.

if the front frame is dropped the prop will be out of line....if the rear is as well then yes it would work ok in theory at least...and no effect on cv angles yes.
steering rack will be higher than it should be tho...more tyre wear is likely.

Not if you drop the rack by the same amount and fit those top ball joint spacers. Once the tyres are at the right angles/pointing in the right direction there will be no excessive tyre wear.

Yeah but with the right wheel/tyre combo, jacked up as high as you can go ....... cool or what
