Instead of over-stretching the front suspension and compromising the steering geometry with excessive lift (resulting in massive tyre scrub and all the rest) in the quest for more ground clearance and improved app/dep angles, what's wrong with packing the front subframe by, say, 50mm and then dropping the back end by a similar amount?
On the face of it, larger 16" tyres could be fitted with reduced arch clipping problems (and ground clearance would be offset by a corresponding amount) app/dep angles would increase and all within the safe working angles of available CV joints. The front deform. panel could stay put
OK so this may not sound very attractive to derv drivers who already have less ground clearance at the back
