Well got da'd off and etched and primed etc, will be wet flatting and applying a thin bead of sealant in the seams then more paint, but looking quite good as we speak
Image
Image
this area is now nice and clean looking
Image
slider rails looking healthier
Image
this now looks as it should with the pillar pulled out
Image
Image
not very interesting pickies, see one van in primer and they all look alike,, doors are hung in the other booth along with the side planks etc

Well finaly got it all in u coat and flatted and so forth
Image
Image
seems to have come out ok , just got the seams to seal and a final thin coat prior to gloss
new rear arch
Image
os front arch
Image
wiper drives are still in but shrouds and such are out of the way so paint gets in ok , washers are sacrificial as I dont want to loose the pipes, have new vw ones to fit back
Image
tailgate is happier with itself
Image
and badge/logo area is nice
Image
this is the replacement red door that we repaired
Image
Image
and this is the modified bit for the lecky mirror
Image
and not forgetting that the full set of sideplanks/bumpers had to be reworked as they had split and were really badly painted, they wont be perfect but will be 100%better than they were, sample bit here as no point pickying every part...
Image
So this is as near as dam it 5 days work since the repaired/filled stripped part of the job

Wow, that's what i call a proper job, do you do any rustproofing of the interior seams/edges of panels or leave that to the owner or are you the owner and leave it alone? I'm always intending to cut back the old underseal and clean, vactan and seal the inner seams but it never sems like an attractive job at all. Perhaps that's one of the many diferences between a hobbyist and a proper job, i.e. i can afford not to bother if i like.

Yes , clean off, however you can, and treat and waxoyl equivalent, do as much as you can to the insides.

Coming along nicely there mate! Impressed.

Dumb question for you though, whats this hole, and bracket for? Itrs just that im missing both my rear mudflaps, and was wondering if these were related, as I don't have either.

The bracket is for the big bumpers (carat), can't help with the hole.

Well its painted, lad did good so wont be sacked this time, ( put the bu**er on a warning to keep him on his toes though , as he's got a morgage) :D
slider, prior to refitting
Image
o/side door
Image
rear end is looking nice and clean
Image
washers are sacrificial to save loosing the tubes, screen aperature is and was mint
Image
bit of a tease picky , forgot the flash but happy with the seam and alignment
Image
now the skirts and bumpers were as dismal and miserable as any you will see with loads of cracks and painted by a robot with iffy programming and stood in the wrong room as it tried to apply the rancid paint, these were stripped back and repaired as best as can and whilst they cannont be guaranteed, they do look more like painted steel than plaggy
Image
and
Image
they ae painted white first and then taped off to apply the black , its really the wrong way round as its hard to mask inside curves and get a clean line , be easier to paint black and then tape up and apply the white ......anthow they look nice , should do as they took over a day to do
this is the n/side nice and straight , very happy with how its turned out so far
