Re: The rebuild has begun........
Dai, Awesome work again and can I just say as a Syncro novice how useful this thread is to see how things go together on and off the vehicle. It all seems so straight forward when its clean and shiney on the workshop bench! What silver paint are you using for suspension parts?

Looking good Dai.
Hard to tell from the pictures but are those ARB drop links on the right way around?
The rounded side of the lower ARB drop link bushes go towards the arm.
If you decide on Trailmaster give us a shout, we are set up as a dealer, just need to get the time to sort out putting their stuff on the webshop.
Another syncro too nice to take off road!

Dai was just talking about those drop links last night yep looks like they are on the wrong way round which would explain the probsSimon Baxter wrote:Looking good Dai.

Youve got me second guessing myself now Simon and PaulSimon Baxter wrote:Looking good Dai.

Heres the before shot.......

And the after..............to my reckoning the drop link seems to be on the right way around and on the right side

another view

And a shot of the bushes with the round edges towards the arm

I did try fitting the Arb drop links in many different ways, without the top bushes fitted ,just to see if the ARB ends would sit properly in the hoops of the drop link.My conclusion was that because of the lift the van has now that the drop link will need a little tweek with a"hot spanner" to bring it all back into line.
or have i overlooked something

Re: The rebuild has begun........
Will take pics of mine and measurements from hub centre to gutter when home on Mon so we can compare. Rather than "hot spanner" might be better to space down the arb by a few mm if height is the issue?

pickys of yours would be good, and the measurements from the gutter to the centre of both the front and rear driveshafts would help as the wheel arches have been modified

Re: The rebuild has begun........
kink on late link goes backwards and outwards so they look like they are on right
- I guess one should only ever replace the late ones one at a time so you can check against the other one to make sure you are right or have another late syncro to hand to refer to and remember the kink in middle of the arb goes down
EDNA 20mm rear lift 62" gutter to centre of wheel cap on 205R14C bullet holes, inc plastic cap on gutter
15mm front lift 61 1/2"
better get the 20mm lift on front, only had them sat here for 2 years
to be honest the rubber arb link bushes are pretty distorted too and they were new with new plates and sleeves a couple of years ago, fully extended they look ok but at rest they are squished that's how they all seem, remeber how distorted the old ones were when you took them off
