We need to have a look see, a chat with Ross and then think about a major meet there. Definately NOT any form of show, no entertainment or other form of financial; risk. leave the show thing to VF Ltd and Dubliminal ect, we dont need the hassle. We have many many people with ideas, alas not nearly as many who actually pop out into the real world of camping 80-90 ..
A large meet of only club members would be fantastic, but it aint gonna happen overnight, Ross isnt gonna fold the feild up post it somewhere else if we dont get a huge meet sorted by midnight is he? He said himself he needs to make it stay open afterall.
calm down and do it right, there is more to sorting a camping meet than selecting a date ( and clashing is downright rude) even a small one , never mind a huge one.
Sorry but I think the fact Rozzo has stuck up a date that Ross is happy with is great, your never gonna get a completely free weekend, there will all ways be a show or meet somewhere so to say its rude is a bit strong! Totally agree this club aint about putting shows on but going to um or camping with mates!

To clash with another 80-90 meet which is only 80 miles north of Shirebrook is not very nice. It would be different if one meet was in North Yorkshire & the other was in (say) Kent or Devon, somewhere hundreds of miles away.

i don't see what the problem is really? the north yorks meet clashes with fox & goose too but this will always happen. red westie suggested a date,, it suited me and andy, the site is free so i'm guaging interest.
if a few stick there names down i'll sort it with ross and we;ll report back what we think of the venue.
it'll make a grand replacement for the black lion rozzofest since i lost that venue

Correct it might well be 80 mile from there but when your watching every penny at the moment, its not 80 miles for me it is 23 miles to shirebrook plus 80 = 206 miles round trip opposed to 46! So it actually is hundreds of miles away!

Yes it may be rude, but Im not going to travel another 80 miles on top of the 95 miles to get there for one night.
The thing is, if you dont put a date down, it will never happen.

even hundreds of miles apart it is polite to enquire .
how would you like it if a meet you had organised 6 months ago was clashed by a meet in the final month ?
who and how far isnt the point, its not the 80-90 way.
it costs nowt to be polite.
Wouldnt bother me in the slightest theres hundreds of members in this club from all over the uk perhaps if there were more choice more people would come to um, plus loads of club meets have clashed over the years , why is it suddenly a problem??

How is it not being polite?
Im not traveling a 400 mile round trip for one night with 2 young kids on tow.
I think it is a bit inconsiderate that's why I suggested august I know it holiday time but it didn't clash with anything else club wise but it is down to members where ever they want to go but would have been nice to ask the other members first

fer gawds sake thats exactly what i'm doing,,, i'm merely guaging interest. its quite interesting to note tho that when i last looked 7 have declared interest after 1 day who hadn't expressed interest in either of the other 2 meets that weekend. and relax

As a side note...the dates were not just plucked out of the air! Michelle spent ages going through both the 80-90 events calender and camping forum before posting with the least problematic weekend dates.
It is also very interesting to note just HOW MANY VW events and camps there are each weekend, three to four each weekend and thats just the ones we are aware of, I'm sure there are many more that just never make it into the calender or onto the camping forum agenda.
That leads to my next observation which is, however polite we would want to be about date clashing, it is clear that the idea of somehow having to seek approval from other events organisers over dates would be impractical and likely almost impossible given we are talking about clubs I don't belong to and am not a member of. Like I said in a much earlier post...you can please some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time.....every year more and more events are added to a point it makes your head spin.
I would also suggest that this is just friendly competition, people will choose which event they want to attend. That decision often comes down to brass tacks/money, distance to travel and cost of venue camping so I'm much more likely to attend a camp 25 miles away than 80 as the cold hard facts are the longer distance will make my pocket £30 lighter. Personally, I can't afford that extra expense when I'm camping every other weekend throughout the summer.

good evening folks, just reading thru the threads hope i hav`nt caused any problems sorry if i have, the last thing i want is for you lot to be falling out with each other.cheers Ross
It's what happens Ross, not your fault. That's why our club meets are sorted by ONE person/couple and never left to the democracy to debate, or feck about with.
It should be "the date is this, the place is there ... who want's to go ?"
