Thanks Kev.

Do you have a pic of yours?
Mine is 1989, so I assume late version - however, I have learnt to never take anything for granted with Boyd..!!

Mine would confuse you, it has an lpg system using coolant.

The temp 2 sender switches off the electric manifold heater, carb de-ice, choke heater at 67 deg C
I have my heaters on a manual switch in the cab.

Yeh, fair enough.
I don't want to make this more complex than it needs to be.

Appreciate your input though Kev.
I am determined to do this myself. Garages have proved a bit flakey lately. I have decided to learn it and do it.
Far more rewarding and good fun once you get over the initial frustration of going in circles..! :rofl

Update time again...

Is the DF cooling set up different than the DG? - even on vans of the same age?

I ask because there is no way to connect the cooling aspect of the Pierburg without altering cooling hoses.
( The Solex has no cooling fluid input like the Pierburg does. )

Can anyone with a Pierburg 2e3 on a late style cooling system please post some pics?
I think the thermostat housing differs too - but am confused how they differ - basically for DG setup, there would be a port unused on my housing, so I need a pic to get my head around it.

It is evident I will need to make changes, so I need the following if possible:

1. Pic of where hose from Pierburg to header tank - which port it goes to, and I assume a T in coolant pipe is used?
2. Pic of DG style thermostat housing on late cooling system.
3. Part number of the hoses from Pierburg.
4. How many ports / outlets / inlets there are in total on Thermostat housing.

I feel like I am going up my own rear end at the moment, but I cannot see how unless there are distinct differences in some hoses and thermostat housing on late cooled DF and DG engines, how it could possibly fit in.

Come on boys - get your cameras out - you know you want to..!! LOL

Thanks in advance. I'm sure there are differences, I just need to know exactly what they are.

OK.

Here are pics of Header Tank on mine:
( Kev mentioned hose from Pierburg goes here, but must use either different tank, or a T hose? Mine has nowhere for it to go.)

Image

Here is Thermostat housing:
I am assuming DG looks slightly different? Possibly no port where mine is on lowest point in the pic? )

Image

Here is Bleed Rail:
I think that is what you mean, but this should be the same as your?

Image

Here is back of carb with Pancake off:
I think this is what you wanted? You can see coolant hose that goes direct from thermostat past carb, and into r/h port of inlet manifold. )

If you need more let me know.
Cheers.

Could I ask where your coolant hose goes from the Autochoke housing. (front)
I assumed the header, but it might be to the bleed ring.

Mine goes to the LPG vapouiser

great work smiffo but zoom out a bit and we can see what connects to what :ok

some existing photos I have to wet your appetite, will take some more for you, beware this has lpg.

looks like you need the pipe from tank to metal pipe with the T to carb, it's expensive I warn you

Aye Aye Ithcy - point taken :rofl :rofl

I will wait until it's light now I think.
My torch thingy is cr@p.

Basically the hose that comes from the Pierburg on yours, doesn't exist on my set up.
So the hose from the inlet manifold on mine, ( right hand side port when viewing from behind of van ) goes straight to the thermostat housing via running behind the Solex. it goes into the port at the front of the thermostat housing, i.e. you are looking at it when viewing from behind the van.

I know that port on the inlet manifold should go to the Pierburg instead of the thermostat housing but I need to know what happens to the then redundant port on the thermostat housing, and where the other coolant port from the Pierburg goes.
( You would think that would join straight to the Pierburg too, so that the carb is just looped in, but apparently doesn't on other people's DG set-ups. )

I will get better pics - perhaps a short vid would be better, or a drawing?

Cheers.

Kev - I assume your question is for Itchy?

Hmmm, yes.
Kev was right. Looks like it does go down by header tank via a hose with a tee...

Also looks like yours doesn't have as many outlets on thermostat housing...
Which is weird weird weird...

I now have a 2.1 oil cooler fitted, it needs an extra connection and different thermoatat housing so maybe what you have, easy to blank off an extra connection.

thinking about it your solex does appear to have a coolant connection, you could probably adapt these.

Yep - that is what I have. That extra port on the front doesn't seem to be in other pics of DG's.
I suppose that means the DF used the same thermo housing as the 2.1L?

Is this the `pricey` hose you were talking about?

It will probably be Monday now. I am working until then, and leave before the sun gets up, and I don't get home before it sets

Actually Itchy - I know I said I was going to wait, but I have made a quick video.
Hopefully downloading now.

However - those hoses you mentioned as coolant are actually the fuel in/out hoses on the Solex.

Vids is being uploaded now.
It will make more sense in a video.

Cheers
