Hi Richlaz It's not all been plain sailing! The more you do, the more job's you find to do! Still a fair bit to do but the hard slog is over we think.

If you have any photos of the fitting around water tank and gas bottle area this would help.

I didn't actually remove the water tank but here's a few of the general area

Update on mornings progress due to heavy showers stopping play.

Fitted painted seat bases.


Fitted base of unit to shell. Plate with captive nuts worked a treat. If the bolts ever have to come back off the mastic should hold the plate in place.


Both bases fitted.


Rotating section dropped in place.


Clamp plate dropped in place and bolted. Awkward to get lever through slot.


Both complete bases in place.


Seat fitted.


Drivers seat in rotated position.

Pinched the seat from my autosleeper as we need to find a pair of standard seats to replace the Austin Princess seats the van came with.

Strange day to day with all the rain so we did not get van finished for MOT.

Rear brakes siezed on which caused a problem. Had to readjust handbrake cable. Then in rain starter/electrics playing up and seemed to not be enough power to start van and keep itr running?

May be starter motor problem. Sometimes it will hardly turn over and then others it spins freely?

Day was not wasted though as LMS came over with her van for us to look at interior and with the photos from 1664 this morning it is now a lot clearer how interior fits back together.

Still one panel not clear though see photo below.

Mark had to get away so stopped work there and took Janet for fish & chip tea at Saltburn.

When I got back decided to have another hour in garage and fit some of the interior.


Rear passenger side pieces as 1664 photos.


Lower cupboard.

Water tank & heel board still to try in.


This is the item still puzzling me. Had a good look round LMS van but could not see this item? ANYONE ANY IDEAS?
Going to check out 1664 and LMS rebuilds to see if any decent pictures that will help.

Yep as Jeff said it was one of those days. Hampered by rain etc and one thing after another trying our patience.
There is some dodgy looking wiring on the loom around the starter motor that needs closer inspection also the earth needs checking along with the starter trigger wire from ign switch. Think the starter itself is ok as when it decides to turn over it does so well. The solenoid seems to do its stuff but this also needs to be bypassed and ruled out. I have been given the bumpers to rub down and paint. Will post up pics of the results later in the week.

Hides some electrics; the thick cables pictured here you won't have as I installed them but you should have the fridge relay and a fuse or two.



This is also why it's better to start at the kitchen end, so you don't struggle getting the unit past all the wiring

Have one shaped piece of 8mm ply which is shaped a similar profile to van panel behind fridge? Will post photo later and you might be able to clear that up for me as well.

Best thing about it is that it's a resto being done at home on a sensible budget with a couple of great blokes doing it.

Gives me confidence to start on my own. Definitely going to have a go at the brake reconditioning this week as its an easy job to start. Get the van up on axle stands and get the grinder and wire brush out.
