Good point, but couldn't you create a different fault? Or just tell them that the brakes don't feel right and that you are really concerned and need them checking by your regular garage.

Re: broke down on way to cony
Just got it booked in with watson diesel for tuesday, so finger crossed it's nothing too drastic

Re: broke down on way to cony
Have you checked there's not a very slight drip from any of the injector pipes at the pump head.. even 1 drop every few seconds can upset a TD so that it misfires like a petrol with a bad coil or plug.

Re: broke down on way to cony
going by watson diesel instructions on another way to check bottom pulley, it's ok. their next port of call was the pump, so instead of me taking bits off and having them tested (which could end up costing me more) its best if they take the van, then they can hear and see what its doing themselves and hopefully fix it.

Still what doesn't kill you only makes you spend more money
Yep I broke down too on the M5

I got an oil burner so I could have more confidence when wading.

The WBX is smoother even than a new T5.

Re: broke down on way to cony
It'll be an AAZ if its knackered, I'm hoping It's not though. Not exactly flush with money at the moment.
Looks like a AAZ is easier/ cheaper to get hold of
