The air filter seems to be adequate ,but will look out for a 1.6D one if going cheap....More important i need the header tank with pressure cap as mine has poxy resin around the top stopping it from leaking ( as well as this oil filler pipe ) ......
Need to buy a camera ,as using my iphone at the moment ....
HarryMann wrote:OK, so you say that is just how it looks, and the pipe is flattened by design and not squashed... in that case would be interesting to know what it came off.
Looks like the whole installation has been done OK and that (contentious) air-filter may be off the donor too, or adequate at least.
PS. Check if your camera has a 'close-up' setting in the menu or a button for these occasions

Hi harryman .... Found some gauges oil temp ,oil pressure they are porsche dials....am i right i need senders for them .??..vdo new are mega money
HarryMann wrote:Oil temp and pressure is good for safety as is EGT
Boost is pretty pretty, can be temporary, a loose run just to check boost occasionally or when changing things, is worth doing
Revcounter also nice know..
But oil temp I'd say is No. 1

wagon seems to be running better now the engine is getting abit more fuel and happy with the performance and not as worried with inclines. .....Changed the glow plugs to find 1 & 2 not working at all ,so my smoking on start up is abit better . Maybe i'll tweek back the fuel slightly and this may help abit as well..
Next issue to deal with is the clutch ,as it's biting point is almost on the floor ... ... ( adjust or replace ??)
choplee wrote:Need afew pointers on tuning this little 1.6TD ...Overall happy with performance ,as it is what it is...BUT pulling off on an incline etc.etc ..she doesn't like gets there in the end ...lol....any help would be great
Tune up maybe ??

Hi lee,
Best to checka few things out. You'll need a helper here.
First make sure that there is no lost motion developing a the slave cylinder end. Get someone to operate the clutch repetaedly while you are tucked up underneath with a torch and a good view of the operating arm and the slave cylinder bracket.
Is the bracket bending or rocking much?. Are all the bolts in place and any bracing bars?
Check the bottom of the slave for fluid (flip the pushrod's rubber boot back and check all is dry)
Bleed the slave cylinder
Check the pipework and master cylinder for reservoir level , drips, leaks etc... (sometimes fluid under the pedal box)
It is not necessarily the clutch itself, but of course that is the last thing to attack. If you do the operating arm and fork are also usually worth attending to (see Wiki)

Thanks for all the pointers in november Harryman....
Update: Clutch fluid we bled and it was black ..clutch now biting about middle pedal .. cheap fix that one..
Replaced the glow plugs and checked power going to them ..still big smokey joe on a cold engine start and needs cold start ,but running ok in general.
