Glad everything finally arrived, wonder if the driver kept his job??? :D

- the waxoyl- was thinking of renewing this when complete. No idea when that went on.

It's like it's been dipped in salt :shock:

It'll certainly be safer when it's finished. Just shows what is described as 'surface rust' or 'not bad for it's age' is a downright guess :D

Well dipped in salt eh , helen did say something about it being parked up for eons with the same side aginst a wall, sea wall???
i have to admit,i can give myself a good idea of what to expect but this did exceed that , very supprised at the suspension mount.
yes he kept his job ,i said to his manger that youveput too great a number of drops on for a new guy out of his area, !! hope it helped him out cos they do a top job 99% of the time

We did buy it from Chester-le-street, not too far from the sea I guess. Glad the van isn't boring for you MM :shock: :lol:

Well,as there is a little bit of burning/cuttinng/welding and grinding to do .especially around the fuel filler and this is a petrol van then out comes the tank. sorry but i agree its work but it really isnt worth the risk,derv is no problem but i aint taking chances,the story of the tankl later
so, this is what the front jp area was like

really badly plated and covered in schutz. this is closer to show the internal construction

as i remake it the way it was built ,well as near as is practical it will become clear the order it was done in , this may be of future help if you want to do a repair to just this area as its a common failure

you will see that the b post is very good , i have burned the remnants of the patch of the bottom of it and will run a disc over it,the ends of the outrigger were not the happiest so it was easier to cut them straight off rather than try unpicking it all
inside the b post is the reinforcing plate(i will add a picky when i dig it out)which carries the load vertically.

chassis no is nice and clear too :D
this shows from above and as it goes back together it should become clearer,quite clever how they did it really

i have done the cut here just below the top of the outrigger so it will be a nice invisible join. little issue with the base of the post but not a cause for concern, i do like to see that the now visible seam has virtually no rust inside which is unusual, same on the other side of it

what a philosophical way of looking at it, :ok but yes there are many good point as will become evident, Its hard to show in the picks but the front suspension on the os is really rusty and yuk yet on the ns its sort of normal-ish looking, you would really think its 2 different vans, also on a positive , the side windows seem very good, if there is any rust it will be behind the seals and dead easy to sort
