With a subtle hidden mod the a/c ducting could be used as a simple fresh air circulator: Duct from the unused external side vent (offside in your case) into the vertical section inside and then to the overhead blowers. Blank off the grille that face the rear window and you've got a decent full-length fresh air system.
Just a thought.

Thanks, I like that idea a lot, only recently realised that the air comes from inside the back and not fresh from outside anyway,
its really good having those roof vents blowing cold fresh air, can keep the van all snug but refreshing air to the face to keep alert on the looong straight roads..
Was out last night and the lights failed, but will post about that in the relevant place..
Anybody got ideas about a snorkel on the "wrong" side, to attach to Subi inlet?
Could just make something I suppose but wondered if some busses had them there or if anyone had done that before.

Well that was a revelation! I've followed this thread with a lot of interest and it was great to experience the nearly completed outcome.

Thanks to Rollercoaster for a drive of his newly Subaru converted bus yesterday. A 2.2 EJ is just soooo much better. I think my 2.1 DJ is pretty good (although it is the only one that I've driven) but its nothing in comparison with the Scooby which revs, has loads more torque, sits comfortably at 70 and Rollercoaster reckons significantly better economy - it will be interesting to get the exact figures.

People say that the Scooby engine could have beeen made for the T3 and the engine bay is just so much tidier - somehow you have to see it for real rather than just looking at pictures to really appreciate the difference. The RJES bits look so well engineered. That is definately the way to go.

Thanks also for all the advice based on your experience over the last six months. As with any conversion there are loads of pitfalls and hopefully I will be able to learn from your experiences!

Going to run mine as is for the summer and then plan to do a similar job over next winter - maybe with a 2.5 - will have to see.
