Nice design, Rob. If it fits, do you mind sharing the original dimensions?

My best estimate was:
Length: 70mm
Height: 23mm
Trace Length along the bottom: 53mm

In this image the with of the PCB is 54mm or there abouts, i say ther abouts because the pitch between track and gap looks consistent and there are 27 gaps+tracks. 54/27 = 2mm which sounds like a nice Germanicaly metric number.

54mm is probably right. When I measured the multiplug connector, it looked as though that was 53mm long. It was starting to get dark outside though.

Let us know how the test fitting goes.

I think we can call that reasonable.

DOPS Board, this is a bit of a stab in the dark as I was not 100% sure on the wiring. Managed to beter it out I think was confused as the circuit did not match the schematic.

Found I had my schematic wrong on an LED, but the 3.9 K resistor was also ripped from the board.

Nice design. Is this the board that sits behind the speedometer? Or is it part main dash ribbon PCB?

That's the ribbon replacement. Pushes onto the back of the speedo. I was looking to recreate the DOPS but there an unidentified IC on it so would be difficult recreate exactly.

I think I know which part.

I thought about replicating it too when my buzzer of doom was playing up recently. It's an expensive and rare part to replace.

Mine looks to be in good condition, I suppose I could just replace resistors if it starts to go bad.

And the final bit for today.

Non Tacho - Guage Board

If anyone can get accurate dimensions of the tacho rear face, let me know.

The edge connector, DOPS Addapter and Guage Board are all with the PCB Manufacturer..

Cheers

Nice design Rob. Looks like you'll have your prototype in no time!

Is there a standard thickness for these boards? I believe CJH said 1.6mm?

yes 1.6mm

Thank for the comment and Covid for my ability , during lockdown #1 i worked my dayjob from a makeshift desk ( back legs were the kitchen radiator) in the kitchen. when i was getting down/depressed by work i learned KiCad. It's frustrating but Great to build stuff.

I bought a 3D printer in lockdown #1 too, and then re-learend 3D CAD.  I used that recently to proto an alternator bracket for a Ford Pinto.. Which was then machined by the same Chineese fab company for £80.. My Idea, My design. My ProtoType brought to life and solved a massive problem...

I am going to incorporate a "flashing" option for LED6 as a very simple Alarm warning dummy.

I have some other ideas for

Cheers.

I'm glad something good came from the covid lock down for you then.

I remember CJH talked about using the vacant light slot as a low fuel warning light. What kind of alarm were you thinking of? A central locking type alarm?

purely a simple flashing LED option.

I already have my digidash plans and this workstream has hopefully resolved some questions so it will be worthwhile for my own plans.

its now easier to design what i need than adapt something else ( usualy ) but incorporating available submodulse massivly reduces effort.
