Nearside C pillar base, this rot wasn't obvious at all until further investigation. There's a been a fair few unexpected surprises for Darren.

i know you said that you were jumping in with both feet but it looks like your just about balls deep at the moment
whats gonna happen to the inside when your done with the outside??

Got a few little changes planned for the interior, but nothing major.

Hi Al,

Is yours being done somewhere down in the far SW? We are going to have to get some work done sometime soon and it would be useful to know if there is anyone local who is totally trustworthy.

Try and find a reimo rhd interior. Rich has one and its very practical. Would be nice to find one for my panel van.

Unfortunately no matter what interior you try and put into a panel van you always end up with the stumbling block that there's no room to stand up.

Its useless trying to have a cooker at the height that a Westy has it for instance, and all the work surfaces too.
All those camping type cupboards also make the vehicle useless as a 'van' too. You certainly cant fit an 8x4 sheet in there.

It makes building an interior for a panel van difficult (depending on your requirements of course) but even without wanting it useable for a work vehicle, you'd still need to chop a hole in the roof, which i'm really really reluctant to do. If i started to consider doing it i'd have a very hard search for a syncro that's already a camper.

Hi Pete, yes it's being done in the SW. Darren of Wedgies Workshop, Newton Abbot to be precise.
Darren will be moving workshops during the next couple of weeks to a bigger, brighter, all round much better unit. If you get in there fairly quick it'd a great time get in touch with him if you need some work done, think he's got a few jobs coming up.

Given your criteria as above Al, what about low-level storage bins down the side that come up level with the engine hatch (keeps the van functionality) complimented by a slide-out bulkhead unit of the same height for the cooker etc. so you can stand outside under the awning while grilling Koftas. No worse than stooping over a BBQ and keeps the smells and fire outside. If you need more cupboardry then add some high-level storage and/or cargo nets for light bulky stuff like bedding.
Ever considered a hammock in the van? Could be a solution if you need to move stuff and still live out of it...
If it works out I'll take the usual percentage
