Replaced clutch master, wasn’t that - no resistant on pedal still. Saw fluid coming out of clutch slave, so the piston seal in it had failed. It was a new ‘classic line’ item which lasted 18 months! Fitted new slave, fixed.

Clock stopped, van fuse 15A. I think I short circuited the clock which shares its feed with cigarette lighter when I removed the stereo and inserted a stereo blank, 251857233. Anyway, clock ok now.

Speedo is 20mph fast. I can’t get my head around whether the speedo spring is too tight or too loose; any experience of this out there?

Logic suggests tighten the spring to add resistance.

Sorting the MOT advisories in the D-Pillars. I think some rusted cracks are near the engine mounting bar fixings, hence the advisories.

Should outlive me now, cough.

Nothing fancy, just bashing out the bad corner and some welding where required.

Before & After. All worked from the inside because I wanted to keep the rust!

I'll primer and paint over the black underseal in the summer, when it's a bit warmer (paint code LH5G)
Less than 800 miles this year, which is a shame. Porsche 911 is a big draw. Still a flat boxer engine, right? I do love the 2.1 though & I recommend any 1.9 owner to do the easy upgrade on Pierburg.

I’ve been asked to represent the year ‘1990’ at VW Stonor Park, Henley for their 40th Anniversary on Sunday 2nd June, 2024.

Is (was) that 20mph fast at all speeds? If so just refit the needle to read 20 lower. (If you didn't already do this months/years ago.)

No, it’s variable unfortunately.
30 = 50
40 = 70

I really enjoyed this build; bringing things back to life is very rewarding.
I sold this today for £5000
A nice chap called Barnie bought it, he’s from Beaulieu, SO42

Re: 1990 Singlecab II
Did you ever get the spring adjusted Martin? I stripped my speedo recently to fix the odometer. I thought I had done alright with getting the needle back on in the right place as it was accurate up to 30mph but then gradually under reads, at 50 it reads 45ish and at 60 it reads 50ish.
I dont have the set up to calibrate the thing on a bench so its going to be a matter of trial and error. Seeing as that means taking it all apart and putting it back together again a pointer might help me get in in 1 or 2 attempts!
If you did adjust yours did you go with a clockwise adjustment to tighten and by how much?
I cant see mine needing more than a few degrees of adjustment but in the opposite direction to yours
