I found some foam brushes at Wilkinsons, not best quality but only 20p each.

I used a wallpaper seam roller , removed the hard roller and cut down a 4" foam roller to 1.5" and it fitted perfectly.

I'm off to France on Thursday for 16 days so my paint should harden off well enough.
If you can't weld it try bostic!!

I got a big pack in the pound section in ASDA.

I will have a look and let you know if they still have them.

hi all
i'm seriously considering this as i'm needing to do some minor rust repairs but am wobbling on what to do about colour
is there away of telling which "white" my van currently is? looking at the colour chart it could be any of the four... :? are any more popular/common than others? (i have a pic but doubt it would be much use telling subtle differences - unless someone has a VERY keen eye!)

or am i best doing the whole lot rather than trying to colour match?

thanks

Ok Im join the people who have used this product, the only problem im having is colour matching,I need a burgundy and a cream as seen on early t25s the colour charts a bit confusing as it shows 2 colours for each code?any one got a good eye for colours?

on the colour charts it is the gloss square that is the colour for the code, and the one behind it is a complementary colour if you wanna design your fence i believe. if you go to a good paintdealer they will mix up any colour out of any range for you. just tell 'em its the gloss you require and you will indeed be sorted!

Done a bit of digging and found this site.

http://www.clubvw.org.au/colour_identification.htm

It lists early VW paint codes along with there Dulux number.

I got my colour chart today.

Has anyone here painted in either of the reds?

The darker red is listed as fire equipment! I wanted it for my Masala red(?) bus

I have started using Red RAL 3000 and it is certainly red. We are talking Postman Pat van red here and it's going to look great.

Pedro

I didn't have any trouble with the paint taking, but I did/have spent a bloody long time prepping the body and would have been very upset if I'd had any trouble with it.
I am painting over Masala Red and I must admit that I will probably need three or four coats flatted between before I will be totally happy with it.
I have put two coats on one of the sliding door panels that cover the runners and that now looks so much more 'finished' than the first coat did.
Roll on next weekend and it had better be good weather!

All good to read. The original 'paint your wagon for £50' is still looking good. Just come back from Black Rock Sands!

Lets have some pics of red buses then

Pics up after the weekend - if the weather is kind.

I am liking the arty pic of the bus CovKid - what steelies have you got on the front as they don't look standard?

If it's any help I got some foam brushes from Artbase in Hornchurch, Essex for .25p each. They have a website and you can order them online: www.artbasehornchurch.com
