hi there,i actually bought this van in liverpool a few years back,it was a panel van with bad rust around windows and had a half fitted half arsed 1.9AAZ(garage told customer it was anyway) but it was a 1.6TD from a passat badly fitted etc. i had a multivan from germany here that i was breaking,so it had rust cut out and replaced with metal around windows, westy roof fitted and multivan interior fitted with modified panels and brackets to suit RHD. a 1.9AAZ was fitted and all other parts were ordered by guy who bought van from me and fitted here before he collected it, BFG's , a wheel carrier from pete.propex, stereo and some other stuff. we tested VC in yard before we built van and passed ok but a month or two later he called and told us it wasnt working,he told me brickie had them in stock and i should order one and fit for FREE! i told him to buy it and i would fit it for free and carry out a couple of little problems he had with paintwork and the front part of roof was leaking, this was due to andy fitting it himself and forgot to put rubber gromets on the mounting screws. guy emailed me and told me what he thought of me as i wasnt paying for the VC, i told him that i had already given him more than was agreed with the price when deposit was taken,i had the roof colour coded as it wasnt when he agreed to buy it,fitted propex etc for free, gave him 5 x 15" steel rims which i also had powder coated and taxed the van for 6 months!(all at my expense) it had a new radiator fitted and new head gasket/bolts and timing belt too. let me know how you get on? cheers mcgill

i have just spoken to Dave that i sold the van to. he is 200 miles from here and working in the middle of nowhere past Forres. i am going to a friends funeral in Inverness tomorrow afternoon and he is just over an hour out my way and is willing for me to meet up and check the van over for you. so this will take the "gamble" of your father going all that way to look at something he doesnt realy know that much about. so all being well he can go up and drive van home or can drive here and we can sort out all the little problems and fit a VC etc if you like. i could deliver it back to you in a couple of weeks time as i have to go south to collect another van to drive it back here. maybe your father may prefer not to go if i find everything ok and i could go back and collect to bring here to have work done if you arrange payment through the bank. i will call you tomorrow when i have inspected and driven the van, cheers mcgill
