This is my thinking too. My original plan was to convert my Caravelle Syncro to a camper, cutting the roof off, and adding a poptop, but seeing as the condition of my Syncro is pretty much as it left the factory, unmolested etc, apart from the right side rear arch repair, I have decoded to keep it as VW intended, with some reversible mods to help me and the family go camping, and enjoy her.

If I was to get another Caravelle I would fit a matching R&R bed. I would keep the middle row of seats in and put Westfalia swivel bases to the front seats so they can spin round facing the middle row of seats. A cab bunk could be fitted for a little un, then if you fit a front Westfalia table/leg/bracket you can have breakfast with the kiddies at a nice table sat comfortably while Mum can have a lay in with the bed still down. Stick on thermal mats can be used instead of fitting curtain rails and a small Engel fridge can be stored next to the middle row of seats or behind the passenger seat

That way it becomes a camper without not still looking like a Velle, but I would love a full length opening factory roof on it. You can tell I play fantasy garage allot cant you

You know what Jed, several of those suggestions/ideas I have already spoke to the wife about. In particular the two front seat swivel bases, and if I can find matching captin seats, and R&R bed, then jobs a goodun. Also plan on getting a Compressor fridge, but no cooker, as we will BBQ, and have an awning
