Back to the rock sliders, if they were galvanized instead of powder coated after they stopped looking like Kit-Kat wrapper they would then look like scaffold tube. Both not that pleasing to the eye.

The rock sliders would look awful galvanised, but I would prefer them painted rather than powder coated.
Any ideas how much they are going to be?

It does have the tiniest bit of rust where the rear of the front ns arch caught a rock (cheers Chiz) and flexed the panel causing the seam sealer to crack and water get in. When I say rust though it is the not proper seam rash yet. On the to do list very soon. Am going to sand blast and paint with galvy paint then prime, then paint, the seam seal to sort it. Tiny bit of surface rust on a stone chip as well. They are really only rub down and repaint so nothing major. All in all the van is like it came out of the factory.
I am a very lucky man. Paid for the privilege but I reckon the value of the van must have risen by half again what I paid for it. I have certainly improved on it.
Just put these SA grill on. Think I like it better than the square.
Se you can just make out a wee bit of discolouration on the front arch seam. Could make you cry couldn't it. Almost ready for scrapping it is so bad

Totally agree. All these galvo'd bits and pieces will be around long after the vans have gone ...... almost as daft as changing your gearbox oil ... !!!

We get a lot of stuff galv'd. it does look brash and not right when first done , especially old landrover we ve done, but within a year they dull/matt down, they can be painted within a few weeks with the right paint but best if left a while like 6 months ++, threads as you know get well gummed up so need to be re-tapped, and care should be taken where bushes fit as it may be needed to ream the orifice out

All the offroad stuff we do gets plated and lasts a few seasons no prob, if I can dig a picky out I will post it up

These are rock sliders right? For allowing your syncro to slide over and deflect off rocks without stuffing the sills in? So form should follow function, surely iunless they are meant for Chelsea tractors
Paint will scuff though first time out, powder will chip, polyester (plastic) lasts the longest until cut through/grazed or splits.
Rocks generally being hard, abrasive and often immoveable and generally unfriendly to paint.

God, the things you guys find to pick holes in and go on about.......
s'easy innit,
rock sliders = plusgood, galvanised rock sliders = doubleplusgood,
(gearbox oilchange = blackwhite.)
how much are they anyway cos I want some.
