It's a pain really, have to wait for the injectors to arrive, want it to know now hate waiting, wondering........
Only heard of AAZ's with bottom pulley problem, so it affects JX's too. I thought the engine ate itself if the bottom pulley bolt came loose. My cambelt is pretty tight, so hopefully that means pulley ok.
You see you sit here waiting for parts and my usual optimistic demeanor changes.....already looking at mk111 golfs on ebay

The fuel around the injector is just from the return pipes not the injector
like VanDiesel says try cracking open the fuel pipe nut on top of the injectors one at a time that will tell you if its them or not
on the video the exhaust looks like it is blowing smoke rings which make me think its timing or head/valve problem
from cold, just started, it's always been a bit smokey at start up, especially if i just leave it idling. if i pull away it clears up straight away, but it is a lot worse now. The head has about 2000 miles on it. As for timing, i don't know. Is this something that goes gradually? As in hindsight this seems to be a culmination of a gradual problem over the last week or so

and that means?
Not sure, obviously not being there ....... White smoke, knocking, no power, Im thinking valve or camshaft issues. have you dropped a valve?
The one with the most X's for me is the injectors, as i had dark smoke on the motorway. The two X's i haven't got are hard to start/won't start. Presume as it maybe only one injector it will still start
I have some coming now, a couple second hand ones, and a recon set have just been sorted from another member, so will have spares now.
Also added to the order from brickwerks, got a air filter, oil filter, fuel filter and plastic thermo thing for fuel filter. Will fit these things and smile nicely at jed so he can check the timing. Saw a couple air bubbles in the pipe after filter today, not loads but everything helps. Would rather fit/order what i can, than keep on ordering bits
Yep got the flame traps
Can the bottom pulley be tightened back up if it is loose? If it is loose would it not make the cambelt loose? Or would that only show when running
Some info on fitting injectors would be good, orientation of flame trap, what torque for injectors ect

Cheers for all the input people
depends if it's knackered the crank or not.
Put it onto tdc on the flywheel (through peep hole in bell housing)
see if you can get the setting bar in the back of the cam.
Crank pulley bolts should never be reused.
torque to 90nm + 90° with a light coat of oil on the threads.
