Well bizarelly the problem seems to have fixed itself!!!

I fiddled about with all the electrical connections making sure they were all sound and reved her up a fair bit while adjusting the timing again and she now runs like a dream.

So i've reset the timing back to the original settings for a dg now that she idles correctly , accelerates nicely and doesnt loose power.

Hopefully she will stay this way but not knowing what ive done it's hard to be sure. One thing i have noticed though is she now runs cooler than she ever did before, i think the problem was causing her to run hot , i just hadnt realised before as theres no markings on the temperature gauge and the needle always sat half way after she had heated up. It now sits just over a third of the way up the gauge even when running for several hours.

Wonder if other folks having these issues are experiencing a hot engine?

Hi Shaundon,

Interesting finding, mine sits half way and has always done so (since putting in the thermostat that was taken out by previous owner )

Im waiting on my carb to be sent back so once that is done and iv had a chance to give it a few days running il be able to give you an update on my progress.

Il keep my fingers crossed that you have sorted your intermittent stalling

Hi carb is back and van is running all good with no intermittent stalling..... there was various settings which was wrong and diaphrams which needed replacing also i noticed that a earth strap/wire was fitted that it hadn't had since i owned the van/which would have effected the solenoid operation.

All in all i found Bromyards a good company to deal with and Roger a pleasant guy whom clearly knows his carbs
