Agree with James here, wouldnt use it and not only cos you have to weigh cyc to gauge fill, no no no , though you will not get into trouble for owning it, it is not a criminal nor civil offence (yet) :rofl

it is an offence to refill anyone elses bottle...
and unless you have made your bottle at the bottom of your garden in your workshop you are borrowing it it.
calor, flogas, camping gaz all own the bottles, you only buy the contents, the container belongs to them legally..

Or you buy a gaslow bottle, or a proper leisure tank!

As I said. I couldnt agree more , but garage forecourt staff do not have the authority to take anything of you.
It may be against companies wishes to refill the cyclinder (and ive said that its a no no) but it is not an offence. just bloody stupid and dangerouse

As I understand it there should be space for the liquid gas to expand due to temperature. I have read that such tanks should only be filled to 85%. The liquefied gas has all of the characteristics of any liquid specifically for all intents and purposes being incompressible. I believe that advice regarding maximising filling by fiddling with temperature dangerous in the extreme. This means that if you manage to fill the tank close enough to 100% full there will be no room for expansion due to a rise in temperature. Under these circumstance a ruptured tank or bursting disc is a distinct possibility in my opinion. There are few injuries as painful and irreparable as burns so my very strong advice would be to forget about what may or may not be legal and learn in depth the implications and consequences of this activity. If in doubt leave it out!

And so they should.whilst refillable cyclinders are realativly new many leyfolk would on first glance would assume them to be std cyc's including forecourt folk, so yes much safer to refill in their fixed position.
