if the split charge is working....when the engne if off read voltage at leisure. Start engine, the relay should click, and the leisure should charge.

AND the main battery should be charging too.

then when you switch off, the batts should gently fall. If they both read the same voltage there is a chance they are still linked, and your wiring is therefore wrong. if they maintain a different voltage, they are independent of each other and your wiring might be ok!

(oh - no expert here...just what I have learned along the way)

oh, and the leisure shouldn't drop when you crank, either...

Mine has a Zig unit too. There are wires and a relay joining the two batteries, and when the van is not running, the leisure battery seems to be drawing power from the drive battery.

That can't be right!!!

I don't know if this will help? It's from my CF8 unit.

I thought the relay on this diagram was just to isolate the fridge from the starter battery when the ignition was off? My van might be "weird" but I can start the engine with the leisure battery if the starter battery is disconnected so they must be linked. I have to manually switch the "mains" switch on the Zig to isolate the starter battery from the 12v accessories circuit. If there was a relay in the circuit wouldn't that happen automatically?
