I used instant gasket - or just make one up. Its easily accessed so you'll soon fix a leak if one comes.

Due to breaking my connectors i have had to use the 1.9 one. The sensor here is for the temp gauge. My old connector was a one wire spade connector. To use the four pin plug, i had to use a multimeter to work out what the pairs of connectors were, connect one side to ground and the other side to original wire. The old sensor isnt the same so my needle runs a bit high (right of the LED) - i'll sort out adding a resistor to it one day if i can be bothered.

I've never had the problem with the sump bolts - i always tighten mine up straight away - but i cant be assed to do it when the engine is fitted!

My GSF oil pump also needed clearancing - but once done it was fine. However, the ones Simon supplies dont have those issues.

There seems to be lots of discussions on the baffled sump gaskets - i personally dont get on with them as they are thicker and i always seem to get oil leaks - but apparently they are worth fitting if you can get over that.

Good luck

Hi,

Thanks for that Ringo.

Will have a word with Simon about gaskets tomorrow, and if nothing on the shelf shall make them myself.

Interested to hear what you did with the temperature sensor. I shall do something similar.

Yes that sump gasket. Strangely enough I have just notice that in Bentley they have the wrong instructions against the headings of
installing the "oil pan" with the engine installed and with the engine removed. All madness.

Ta and thanks.

Hi All,

The 1Y is in.

In fitting new levers onto the injection pump I have lost the initial setting of the throttle lever on its splined shaft. I notice that the small shaft has a line scribed on its end, and there are other lines on the plate it runs through.

Anyone know how this is initially set up ?

Regards

Hi,

Only a few. When all this is finished I intend to give a bullet type list. Have you got a specific problem ?
