Since found some other topics on testing the gauge, so I'll try those for that part.
I bought the camper as a part resto project with what I currently assume is a diesel 1.9 aaz in the back, but I am yet to find out what it came from, as I've yet to find the engine number on it although there is a load a VAG paraphernalia on it.
The temp gauge previously did work, and then intermittently and then dead, I guess my best way is to run test voltages/resistance to the instrument panel from the wire terminals in the engine bay and get the sticky label gun out.
