I have a rather embarrassing yearning for a Bedford Dormobile camper with sliding driver and passenger doors.
There; I've said it now............

No idea. My dad had a red one in the early 60's (not a camper though). Had wooden bench seats down the sides in the back. We used to love sliding down them when he braked. Used to drive along with the sliding doors open on hot summer days (no seat belts

) and let me sit on his lap and steer it onto the drive. I'd scan a couple of old black and white photos of us in it but I feel I've embarrassed myself quite enough for for one night

why did my post turn to 2
what i said was,.
this sherpa that we were told we'd never get any money back on,.
spent £300 on it all in,. the van,. a new starter motor, & some ignition
parts for a service that i never got around to doing..
thought i was taking the p!ss with my asking price but i easily doubled my
money with people falling over themselves to buy it!
i'd ran the tax out on it before i sold it too,. it was unlicensed!
where as these vws that 'hold their value really well'
Melvin's had his van for 3 & a half years, paid 1.8k fer it & probably spent
that on it too & didn't even get back his initial outlay when he sold it with
nearly a full mot & plenty of tax
What the blithering heck?
( i love vws, but i just bought me another sherpa

)

know of someone that's got one that's forever getting pulled for driving too slowly,

Not showing you pictures of me aged 5 / 6 years old in my school uniform complete with short trousers and scuffed knees is surprisingly easy on the conscience.

Don't know about the gears as I've never driven one and was only ikkle at the time.
There's a yellow camper version in Stratford and the owner keeps it clamped when it's not being used!!

that's quite a nice one though as they go

& at the higher end of their price range,. you'll be lucky to get as much of a vw with that sort of money..
unless you're buying one from us,. cos we always seem to make a loss on the vws

and where exactly is the bed? Don't tell me there's only a bed in the roof...............

ah, yep the bed's pretty gay, the front seats come right back to meet up with the bench seats opposite each
other, then there's all sorts of catchy & fold yout bits that make a bit in the middle, it's quite clever & compact.,
but quite crap!
i got a minibus this time round, with the seats missing so we can make the interior a bit more practical.. they're
more practical than vws as 'campers' go because of the engine position ( apart from having the engine at the back
can really help you out of those muddy fields when everyone else gets stuck!

) they feel so much more roomy
but are still not so wide that you can't use them as a daily..
( they don't have the charm of a t25 though

)
