I had to fabricate the outer part of the offside B pillar of the van but for the nearside I managed to acquire pretty much a whole side of a scrap van so I grafted that in:-
My fuel filler cap section of the wheel arch was totally shot so I left that attached to the pillar and grafted it in to the arch... If you need more pics or want any tips/cockups etc let me know

It took me long enough to get two pairs of socks and some expanding foam out.
Where did you get the inner sill from? I had to get mine from VW in Germany

I think AHschofields gonna do one for me, im still waiting for his email, too many furkin bits called sill. I got the outer panel and small v shaped sill from just kampers, the rest im still researching. Its the pillar im worried about, theyre arnt any vans out here in Cyprus.

By the way whats that silver lining you put in your van for, rust prevention or insulation?

The silver stuff is roof flashing tape for sound deadening with thermawrap insulation on top of that.
Looking at your photo's you need the offside inner sill which is now obselete in the UK. I got one inc delivery from VW in Wolfsburg for around the same price as the uk available nearside sill (about £80). Why wait for Schofields to make one that may or may not fit exactly and will cost you more?
Read this

and this

The inner sill part number you need is 253-801-252 and vw-classicparts.de still have stock
Additionally I bought the outer sill 251-809-294 from my local VW vancentre which incorporates the outer sill from the lower edge of the large side panel down to where it meets the inner sill under the van plus part of the floor on the inside

Aye - mine was exactly the same - they are a water/muck trap and once it starts crud builds up in that area and speed up the rot - I think it's caused by the hole in the pillar near the lock further up.
I managed to get an new VW inner sill for the nearside (left side) of the van but all the other sills I got from a breaking van. If your good at fabrication you can make a new section for the post - they are not special inside just shaped

Yep, the jacking point is also sold as a separate entity by VW

Just spoke to VW thinking they might go through classic.de. They said manufacturing of the inner silll stopped in May 08 and the outer sill was stopped along time ago. Im now wondering if it would be cheaper and easier to run a T2
Looks like im going to have to try and speak nice to some Germans..

Great thread this one , I have to take care of mine when the summer is finished though I am getting the bits together to do it
Thank god I decided to source them now , VW part # 252-809-294 theouter sill and floor panel bit , VW comercial had one in stock in the UK and as said earlier now obsolete , they said as it is only one left may not be easy to locate and I had to come down and pay for it , drove down there hell for leather hoping noone else in the country wouldn't buy it before I got there .Lucky for me they didn't andI got a call earlier and now have it.
I checked on the
http://www.vw-classicparts.de/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; website and they only have the inner sill and the part # for outer sill is not recognised so I guess these were only made for RHD vehicles .
I feel lucky today now I'm gonna do the euro lottery
So I now have the last part of this available ( so VW say ?) Should I take it to China ( along with other obsolete panels )and get some quality ones made ? Well If I win the lottery I'll make and supply free of charge to any 80-90 er

Yeh it was your post that convinced me genuine panel was the way to go , thanks for that
It's all about quality control , if you leave it up to them you'll get sub standard , if your in China /Malaysia/India to watch the first batch then you control the quality . I used to have clothes made in India to sell at Camden Market , they were hand made so I had to be there at first to get the desired result .
