Am in no hurry, as next MOT due in August!

Not Cheeky at all Emma, if your in no hurry should not be a problem cause I have to do what we call a "homer" in my lunch break to make any spare parts. Could get a price from a local machinest if there is alot of demand.

Will keep you posted Jim

Jim, I'd try to get a new original first and measure it up with verniers if you're going to make a few. Hard stainless will be alright but made from hard steel stock rod, they'd ideally need some form of surface treatment, maybe cad plating?

PS. They can be fitted with red-rubber grease, maybe moly, to keep the moisture out.

Van is back home - got a pair of the sleeves made up from an original at a machinists.

Steering is great now - I even thought I had "power steering".
When the welder said "I bet it drove like a boat" (I had radius arms floating around in a hole 3 times the size in vans chassis!) - I thought he was joking!

Just got to MOT her tomorrow. Clutch is well on its way out now though...

Blast - left the original part with my stepdad - but yes. Original part is NOT in use - I thought we could use it for getting clubs vans sorted (as in templates made up from it) seeing this part is rocking horse proverbial!

Was just thinking akira could do with it to measure up accurately... :)

seeing this part is rocking horse proverbial!

there'll be lots more like it soon...

Just one example of parts that ought to be stock going through 'other' channels now

I have a pile of them on the shelf but I am saving them for garage customers.
i was quite surprised when they went obsolete as I sell absolutley loads of them, when they went I knocked them off the shop as to not "cock" me up at the garage.
I usually buy them in 20's.
Anyway, when they went obsolete I took one to the local machine shop to get some knocked up.
rather than get them in the weird fine glav that they usually come in I have had them made in stainless steel.
they are not cheap at about £7.80 each plus VAT but they will last as long as the van doesn.
The VW ones were £2.80 ish if memory serves.
Anyway, I have recieved the trial ones and they are perfect so I'm just awaiting the machine shop to chop the rest up for me then I will put them on the website for sale again.
I will sell off the VW ones first, once they have gone then the new stock of stainless ones will go on at the higher price.
I also have the bushes for sale too, made by the OE to VW, you can see where the part numbers have been ground off!
:)

T25 suspension parts

Post by akira28 »

Made some sleeves today so all going back together soon.

Thanks Harry for advice, managed to get accurate dimensions for length & ID as not much corrosion just OD was flakey. So went for 25mm. Well done Simon for sorting out supply.

Emma, I have cut the blanks for your 3 sets so will drill out some time over the next couple of weeks unless you want to get them from Simon. I was only going to say £2.00 each for them but will not be making any more after that. Simons will be the exact dimensions though so up to you. Email me to let us know.

Sezicoolcat glad you got your boat is back sailing don't worry about dimensions now
