I'm gonna have to check my garage, looks like you've got my welding gloves and grinder too
Thanks for the pictures again. I don't know if you know but I think that the outer panel is also fixed to the outriggers with some type of adhesive sealant. I already have one on the right hand side of mine and was a bit disconcerted by the stuff being there but I had a mate over who does body repairs and he said they had done a good job. I can take a photo if you need one.

Use panel bond. Karrosserie kleber is a common name you’ll find as most the products are German.
You can also use it to bond the flanges of your repair panels where they were spot welded in the factory and you can’t get in to plug it. Modern adhesives are stronger than welding, the Audi R8 is almost entirely glued. It also has the added advantage of sealing those panel edges where rust forms around the original spot welds. It’s worth bearing in mind that this stuff wasn’t available when they built these buses and glue tech has come on leaps and bounds.
Wow some great advice there I knew to bond it to the inner shell I assume that’s what you are saying 937? Where there is like 2 almost spring loaded mating faces? I used guerilla glue that I had from bonding the bathroom. probably not the best stuff but I doubt it’ll ever let go. Very interesting about the R8 though. Can understand why too to be fair
A tad more progress from Sunday
New sill but fits like crap so more work required.
Repair panel fitted to the sliding door one more patch on the door and some smoothing and grinding and should be good to go. Planning on changing all the bearings and patches too as it has never shut very well
Not been updating this for a few days but of course work hasn’t stopped. Mainly welding patch repairs. A bit of fiberglassing over welded bits and some sanding down ready for primer really. So all in all busy few evenings. Also started again with the sill repair stretched it fully out to meet the inner sill it worked so I’m happy with that now. Finishing off the body work this weekend and plan for primer Tuesday and then final sanding ready for paint probably start of the week after. Starting to come together now.
Didn’t realise how slow progress paint prep is got the near side pretty much ready and the tailgate rear 80% but slow progress. Thinking now of primering as I go with the highbuild day so I can see how much more filler etc it needs but here are some pictures from the week
More pictures to come later
Pre work update loads more paint prep finished, just taking my time trying to get it all as perfect as possible got a few bits left looking to get paint on start of next week now as want to be certain I’m happy with the body first
Massive order from jk arrived today including all the bits except a new front grill that I need to finish her off. Will have to source one elsewhere. Painting is due for Tuesday so buzzing for that going to make a start on the electrics tonight so all the interior will be near enough plug and play.
What size leisure battery’s have you guys got?
Anyone got any experience with solar panels? I really want one for the roof just to keep something coming back into the van whilst it’s parked up at the beach all day etc keep the beers cold haha
