Do you fancy choping the Gemo cable in half and seeing which half is the problem..... repeat a couple of times and you might identify exactly why they are failing

Maybe ...but I don't see how it helps others with GEMO cables as you can't take them appart
just checked VW classic and they are available for 40 quid plus delivery

yeh I saw that too.
I have been thinking I should be fair to the GEMO and fit it to speedo after oiling, when it's not fited to speedo it's not held centraly and that may affect it, it's just draining of oil at the moment

Right connected GEMO to speedo and spun wheel end with a drill while I watched, I discovered that pulling in the inner makes it much much better.

when you fit a cable you push the outer though the hub then fit circlip, that pushes inner into speedo and I think that's part of the problem

I think you then need to pull on their outer pulling it out of the hub while the inner is still attached I think it will help improve it.

Somebody try it 5 minute job ?

Tested the VAG one in the same way and it's not really affected by pulling on inner.

it was very much better so put that back and road test tomorrow.

Test drive today with the original VAG cable that's been oiled and nearly perfect, just a slght wobble at 30 ish the rest is steady as a rock.

I think its the angle?? Under speedo to outside some how cause when you drive and hold the cable down its fine? But why its like you need an bracket and cable tie to sort it??

tin top bounces too at lower speeds normally
if I park in the sun it goes mad for 5 minuites before it settles down so affected by heat also.

I think it may be that the gemo should be well oiled before fitting
I suspect its now ruined because it was better when first fitted.

if it were just angle the VW cable would be affected also.

Somebody needs to buy a VW cable.
Mine are probably origional so its anybodies guess if the current VW offering is worth the extra money.
Just possible you spend double and get the same part.

The beetle Speedo cable is the same method/construction isn't it? - Any info on beetle bouncing needles? I've got used it it and it doesn't bother me (gemo- I've replaced it twice in 8 years), but if this could be figured out, I'd obviously get the non bouncer next time
