Re: 1.9 DG WBX Running Problem
Is the coil hot when it conks out?
I still think its fuel related
High speed means you're on maint jet which is a channel tunnel compared to the idle jet which operates at low speed 1500 rpm
Debris can still stop a carb at low speed

I wouldn't say the coil was hot, warmed by the temp of the engine bay maybe at most.
Re: 1.9 DG WBX Running Problem
Have you tried replacing your plug leads.
I had similar problems to yours checked and replaced most things and then as a last resort invested in a quality new set of plug leads and wallah job sorted.
Good luck

Thanks, worth a try. What was yours doing? At what point did it cut out?

Hi, I don't no. My neighbour has a Karmann Coachbuilt but that's converted to Golf Drissel power, I'll ask around, how much is a hall sender? Or do you have to buy a full dizzy?

Brickwerks sell them, but it's best if you try one first as they are non returnable....and expensiveRichSpro wrote:300CE wrote:Do you have anyone close by who you could swap a distributor over with? I'm still erring on the side of Hall Sender.

Hall Sender is about £42, but new dizzy is expensive - that said, you can pick up a second hand one on eBay - this one will fit:

If it doesn't change anything, just re-sell or keep as a spare

As Kev, I'd strip the carb down and check the jets and what crap's in it.kevtherev wrote:First off I'd be taking the carb off and cleaning the jets.RichSpro wrote:Hi, new to the forum and T25 Ownership.
We have had our camper since last year, used it approx 5 times. 1st trip 300 miles it ran perfectly. Used it around town a couple of times then it sat over winter but was regularly run while stationery. On our first trip this year into Wales we got half way and stopped off for lunch, then when we restarted the journey it misbehaved.
Under load in higher gears there was misfiring and no power, dropping into 3rd for a hill or to exit a corner seemed to work, after pulling over it revved fine when not in gear and pulled away fine in 1st and second. I could build the speed up slowly, just seemed to die when pushed harder, as thought the second choke seemed to kill it off.
On the a*** clenching journey home it did the same until after a few 3rd gear higher rev hills it ran perfectly and flew home (as well as you can expect a 2.5 tonne block sapped van too).
Until this week we hadn't used it but decided a trip to work was a good idea.... first sight of a gradient it misfired and chugged again, into 3rd.... nothing, dash lights came on![]()
It eventually restarted and we made it to work.
Suggestions welcomed, don't really know where to start.
cheers
Rich
Then I'd check the 2nd throttle action by sucking on the pipe to the vacuum actuator and opening the throttle fully... the second butterfly should open as the mechanism allows it to do so.
This will determine if the vacuum operated throttle works.

Re: 1.9 DG WBX Running Problem
I can only agree with the fuel issue scenario, I have had similar problems and it turned out to be crystals in the float chamber, give it full throttle and enough fuel will enter the chamber to dislodge the crystals from the fuel exit hole, however they will just settle back down and block it again. Get yourself a gasket set split the carb and give it a good clean out, I have now added this to my spring service schedule every year as our van tends to sit idle from Jan to Mar.
