Re: Radiator Fan Stopped Working

Post by shrig1969 »

Having read up on some horror stories of the plastic bleed screw (head shearing off) on this radiator from ECP I am wondering if the metal one on the old radiator will fit?
If so would I just need to replace the sealing washer (what type?)
If not could I just get a new one (stainless or brass?)
On closer inspection it has a rubber washer on the plastic bleed screw. Is this up to the job?
Many questions I know but want the changeover to run as smooth as possible.
I am no mechanic, but I try......

Picked up my radiator yesterday, measured it. It's only 32 ish mm deep. I would be really pissed off, as the ECP depot is 110 miles away, but I'm down for work tomorrow, so I'm taking it back!

So I'm not sure what happened, CovKid got a genuine one, metal sides etc, I got a Chinese copy, plastic sides, plastic bleed screw, and only weedy, not beefy!

C'est la vie.

Definately check before parting with your money. I got them to unbox it on the counter.

They should be fine to take it back, still in the box, still got the receipt, clearly not as advertised.

Right to update this.

Managed to change rad.

Before... it was pretty rotten.

Image

After... nice and shiny.

Bled system, fan started at low speed halfway, must have been an air lock initially

Bleedvalve on new radiator is a bit rubbish, should have swapped the old one over.
